20th June is World Refugee Day, designated by UN. On Saturday 16th June, the coalition of Korean civil societies helping refugees in Korea is planning to hold an event to introduce refugee neighbors’ culture as a celebration of World Refugee Day.
In Yeouido Floating Plaza, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on 16th June, various programs are prepared such as:
a. Education : learn about refugees and multicultures through booklets, brochures and videos
b. Promotion : learn about NGOs assisting refugees in Korea
c. Bookcafe : read the books about refugee while drinking beverages
d. Food : ethnic foods prepared by Jumma Peoples Network-Korea
e. Culture : experience Jumma peoples’ culture
Furthermore, flashmob event will take place for World Refugee Day. The event will run for 10 minutes for three times: 1) in Yeouido Floating Plaza at 4:30 p.m., 2) in front of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea at 6:30 p.m., 3) and performance stage in front of the Korea Tourism Organization at 7:30 p.m..
