유럽대학 난민 장학사업 Refugee Scholarship Opportunity

난민들과 난민신청자들이 2012년부터 유럽대학에서 학위를 받을 수 있도록 돕는 AREAS 장학사업이 이번달 설립되었습니다. 유럽과 아시아 간의 학구적 관계 (Academic Relations between Europe and ASia (AREAS)) 라는 장학사업은 유럽위원회가 재정지원하며 Erasmus Mundus Action 이라는 프로그램을 통해 실시됩니다.

지원 자격은 캄보디아, 인도네시아, 라오스, 말레이시아, 미얀마, 몽골, 스리랑카, 태국, 필리핀, 베트남 출신 학생입니다. 주로 “난민지위 또는 비호가 있거나, 선주민 또는 국내실향민이거나,” 정치적, 경제적 이유 및 신체장애로 취약한 위치에 있는 등 Target 3 카테고리에 해당하는 학생들을 지원하기 위한 사업이만, Target 1에 속하는 파트너 대학 학생 또는 Target 2에 속하는 우선순위 국가 출신 학생도 해당됩니다.

(참고로 위에 언급된 국가들 외 다른 국가 출신 난민 및 난민신청자들도 Erasmus Mundus의 여러 다른 사업들을 통해 장학생 지원을 하실 수 있습니다.)

Refugees and asylum seekers now have the opportunity to get a degree in European universities in 2012 as applications to the AREAS scholarship was launched in November.

The Academic Relations between Asia and Europe (AREAS) is a mobility and scholarship project financed by the European Commission through the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 – Strand 1 programme. “AREAS want to ensure that vulnerable populations under Target 3 category are well-served,” Bianca Buttiglione, Project Coordinator based in Politecnico di Torino which is the coordinating institution of a consortium that includes 24 partner universities and institutions from Europe and Asia. Students from the partner universities (Target 1) and priority countries (Target 2) are also eligible to apply.

JRS joined AREAS partnership as an associate member to assist in promoting and recruiting students from Target 3 category defined as “having a refugee status or asylum, belonging to an indigenous population or IDPs” and those who in vulnerable situations for political, economic reasons or physical disabilities. Nationals from the following countries are eligible to apply: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, The Philippines and Vietnam.
